Cadland Farming has been in hand since the 1970’s. There used to be milk herds, a bottling facility and milk round. A business broken by the supermarkets in the 1990’s. Our Estate farm plan is a return to regenerative agriculture, a more compassionate and nature based farming system. The arable enterprise is currently in a four crop rotation with interim cover crops to ensure soil is always covered. The livestock, including New Forest ponies, are used to manage and graze the heathland, marsh and our New Forest wild areas.
The farm land is mostly light soils with the ability to irrigate. The geographic location and proximity to the sea makes this one of the earliest harvesting farms in the country with low frost levels.
